The Latest CoursePro Update

January 16th, 2010

CoursePro IconYou’ve been asking for it, and we’ve been listening. This update allows you to backup your CoursePro data to the sdcard. CoursePro will periodically save your data to the sdcard automatically. Also, if you are running the demo, when you install the full version, CoursePro will ask you if you want to import all of your data from the demo into the full version. Lastly, there is a new entry in the home screen’s shortcuts menu. The shortcut will bring up the dialog for creating a new assignment. Enjoy!

Vote CoursePro in the Android Network Awards

August 10th, 2009

CoursePro Icon This morning the polls opened on the Android Network Awards. Although we tried to find out how the nominations were chosen and how to have CoursePro considered for nomination, we were ultimately unsuccessful. Here at MakeMobile, we think the Awards should help to shine light on those applications that are lesser known rather than re-highlight the applications that are already at the top of the popularity list by shear numbers of downloads. We would like to have seen some of the nominees be applications that we’d not heard of before. I mean, if there is already a popularity list in the Android Market, why reproduce it with an awards system? Since we are MakeMobile, we’d like to invite you to use the write-in box below to vote for CoursePro. But, we also want to encourage everyone to use that write-in box as much as possible. Vote for that lesser known gem that you can’t do without.

CoursePro Demo With Notifications, Now In The Market

June 25th, 2009

CoursePro Icon Today we are happy to announce that the new CoursePro version containing the notifications update has been released to the Android Market. In order to get it into users’ hands and thoroughly tested, we have only released the demo version for now. The full version will be released as soon as we are confident that the application is stable enough, so get out there and get us some feedback!

A quick note on getting notifications working:
Make sure to add schedule information to your courses. This is how CoursePro knows when to notify you that an assignment is due. Also, of course, make sure the notification setting is turned on.

Upcoming CoursePro Release Will Add Notification Support!

CoursePro Icon First and foremost, I would like to apologize to our community for our brief hiatus. I know that some of you may have been wondering what we are up to. I assure you, we have not gone anywhere! And now, on to the announcement…

Although things have been quiet lately over here at MakeMobile, we have been hard at work on the upcoming release of CoursePro. We are happy to announce that this release will include CoursePro’s most requested feature: notifications! With notifications, CoursePro will alert you at a configurable amount of time before your course meets that you have an unfinished assignment due. Here is how it works: In addition to notifications, CoursePro now has a course schedule feature. When you create or edit a course, you will be able to add schedule info for the course meet times. This will allow CoursePro to create a notification for any unfinished assignments based on the time that your course meets. The new notification feature will also allow you to set the notifications to use sound, lights, vibrate, and be insistent.

The addition of course schedule functionality has other benefits. For example, it will pave the way for future goodies like calendar integration — the second most requested feature.

The new release will be coming very soon. Stay tuned for more details!

On The Latest CoursePro Demo Update

February 23rd, 2009
Comments Off

CoursePro Icon It has come to our attention that some people have had a problem installing the updated version of the CoursePro demo. We have not received any email about this problem. We noticed the problem because individuals posted comments on the Android Market. This is not a good way to report a problem. We can not help you if you do not contact us directly.

The package seems to have been corrupted by the Android Market. Installing the package directly onto my own test device (bypassing the Market) works perfectly. This is why we had not seen the problem until now. We only found the force close problem after installing the demo application from the Market. This is not a problem with the CoursePro application directly. It is a problem with Market’s copy protection system. It is corrupting the database file. We have turned off the copy protection and uploaded a new copy of the application. Please upgrade to the latest version. You will probably have to completely remove the previous version before installing the update, because the Market has corrupted the database. Unfortunately, there is nothing we can do to prevent this. We apologize for the inconvenience. I am contacting Google to notify them of the problem. The new version of the program should work fine. I have installed it many times with no problems.

In the future, we would appreciate receiving an email or some other form of direct communication in the event of any problems with our software. There is nothing we can do if you don’t notify us of the problem. We try to be very accommodating and will spend time with you to figure out what is wrong. Customer service and product quality are two issues we take very seriously.

Android Market and Slow Downloads

February 23rd, 2009

CoursePro Icon A number of people have emailed to ask why after purchasing CoursePro, the download seems to never start. There seems to be some slowness in the Android Market at this time. This is unrelated to the CoursePro application itself. We recommend that you let the download work. When you see the “starting download” message, leave it for a few minutes. Eventually, the download will start.
